Instructional Aide

I am currently an aide at Grimsrud Elementary School. I absolutely love it and I have been learning so much. I typically work in the first-grade classroom, however, occasionally I work with other special needs students at Grimsrud.

In the first-grade room I have been leading small group interventions with nonsense word fluency (NWF) and progress monitoring. I help with behaviors with the class in and out of the classroom. I have subbed for the first grade teacher when she is gone and in need of a sub. I also give support to any student that needs it. The teacher in first-grade, Mrs. Leingang, has given me the opportunity to lesson plan with her, plan my own interventions/groups with the students (with her approval). She also has me grading some so that I can practice the proficiency scale and how to grade according to that. Throughout my time in Mrs. Leingang's classroom I have learned so many things. She has showed me classroom management skills, given me good ideas for my own classroom, shown examples of stating clear expectations, shown me ways to lesson plan, given me tools for being an amazing future teacher, given me the opportunity to develop relationships with students and my colleagues and a great learning experience. Being an instructional aide has taught me so much more than I could have ever thought.
